Turbo Timer

Does anyone have any experience with turbo timers? I dont see any harm in getting one, but millions of people do just fine with out them. Anyone actually have one? I am considering getting one if it might make a difference.

If you were towing heavy for hours on end, getting things thoroughly heat soaked close to the max, and then pulled into the truck stop and quickly shut it down, you MIGHT have a chance of "cokeing" the oil. That's burning the oil that's in the turbine bearings. Re-starting with the resultant ash in the bearings is hard on them, and leads to pre-mature failures.

Driving into your stop and letting it all idle a few moments, or driving it easy once off the off-ramp, allows enough time for that heat-soak to cool down, and the oil doesn't "coke".

People unnecessarily get kinda' **** about that whole thing, and common sense will save a lot of headaches.

I don't have a timer, but I don't tow heavy and hard all day, either!

But if I did, I'd use common sense, and not shut it down while still max-hot.
