Release Bearing

Can someone tell me how to press off and press on the release bearing without messing it up.

Don't know what a release bearing is. Where is it located?

Do you, by any chance, mean the throw out bearing in the clutch?

^That's exactly what it is. Release bearing = Throwout bearing.

It's just preference what you choose to call it.

I think I remember simply finding a piece of pipe just over/under the same diameter and pressing it off/on with a vise, but I honestly don't remember.

To remove the "clutch release bearing" (actual name, as refered to by most automotive manufacturers), simply knock it off the hub. I was able to just rest the bearing over the edge of my cherry picker, and place a socket on the hub and tap it off. Didn't take much, and the new one went on the exact opposite. Placed the bearing on a flat spot, and tapped the hub into it. No damage, and was a sinch.
