Dick Cepek Wheels

Hello All,

I was looking at purchasing the DC-2 wheels (16x8) but the local vendor said that the center cap for the rear will not fit. Anybody ever have this problem with aftermarket wheels. Or better yet, anybody have one of their rear tires off that could measure the length of the hub. I need the distance with the wheel off. Don't think im being lazy, just it will be a week before I could get to it. 2000 Ex, V-10. Thanks All

Not exactly sure what he means by the rear center caps wont fit, i have a set of DC wheels on my Excursion and the rear center caps are installed.

Not the best angle, but you can see centers installed. Maybe different style DC rims have different caps? These are 16"'s.

I think your Ex has the DC-1's, I am looking at the DC-2's. I think the only difference is the center cap it black and looks a little different and the DC-1's have a bead lock look. They are claiming that the rear hub is to long for the center cap to clip on. They say the wheel will fit fine, just the cap wont fit. Not sure I trust somebody sitting in a cubical selling wheels that didnt even know what a Ex. is.

BTW, nice looking truck.

I'm at work right now, tire wholesale company, and we carry the DC-2's. my book has a specific note saying, "Tall caps for 8 lug wheels do not exist for the DC-2." So for the rear axle hub your going to have to go capless or choose something different. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Murdomino,

Thanks for the info, good to know before I bought them. To go capless would not be an option. Thanks again.

Dammit,
I bought the dc2's and I didn't know the rear caps wouldn't work. It never even dawned on me. I bought open front's and trimmed them down to fit over my MM hubs, but never even checked the rears!!

coolray,

can you not use the center caps from the dc-1 set and have them painted or better yet powder coated black? Are the caps different sizes?

I'm gonna run outside today or tomorrow and pull one of the dc2's from the box and stick on the rear of my X and see about this center cap thing. If it doesn't clear, I may order 2 more of the open centers, they are extra long. I actually trimmed 2" off them when I was checking them for the fronts. I'll let the forum know what happens!!
