Yeah, ford doesn't use a seperate "710" cap, like some other manufacturers do.

Lol, I've heard that joke so many times before. Most of them refer to ditzy blonde girls haha.

I have a question.... I just added a 14" Edelbrock 3" open Air Filter and I connected the breather from the driver's side to the hose connector on the bottom of the air filter. I noticed that my truck feels like it has more power but it also runs a little worse, meaning it feels like it is always about to die and won't idle correctly. What could be causing this and should I just adjust the throttle a little bit to fix it? Minor info, I had to unscrew the bolt on the carb a few turns to elevate it enough for the wingnut to screw on, could this cause the problem?

Thanks.

The air cleaner stud threads into a blind hole in the carb so that's not the issue.

...Cool beans going to an open element air cleaner as the factory air cleaner is restrictive.

BUT, now that you have more air, the carb was tuned for when it was "choked" by the stock air cleaner assembly. It was essentially compensating for the amount of air it could take in. Do a little tuning by richening or leaning out the mixture. I do a half-turn on the screws and then blip the throttle to reset the fuel delivery. Keep track how many turns you do in case you need to get it back to the initial setting. Be patient, you'll get it.

Second, check your PCV valve. Pull it out and it should rattle freely. If not ro it sounds like it is muffled, shoot some brake cleaner to loosen up the crud. It's worth doing at every oil change in my opinion.

If the 14" edelbrock air cleaner is their "low profile" version, insure it's not interfering with the choke flap. I kinda doubt this is the issue, since you had to raise the hold down stud, but it's still worth checking.

I agree with HIO Silver. You likely need to open the idle mix screws 1/4-1/2 turn each. Especially if the old filter was rather dirty.

I also just bought an edelbrock filter and if I use the adapter for the breather that came with it what size rubber tubing do you use to the elbow in the valve cover. I pulled my elbow and gromit out and was going to use a oil breather filter but the one I purchased wouldnt fit. I have the ones I pulled but what sizes do I need to replace them.?

I used a 5/8" hose. That was the size that was originally on my breather and I was able to stretch it onto the new filter. I needed to add a new hose though because the original wasn't long enough to reach the filter.

the last edelbrock aircleaner i looked at buying didn't have any spots to put the PCV hose anywhere near it.

Is there a difference between open air cleaners and their location on where the hose is connected, or does it hook directly up to the carb instead (/w an open cleaner)??

The last location for the PCV connection was to the air cleaner on the drivers side (from the valve cover).

Anyone have a picture of their connection from the valve cover to the carb/aircleaner (open).

Guy wanted pic of air breather/pcv set up. Thought I'd share mine. My apologies if I intruded on the thread.
