rebuilt motor
Hello:
I have been talking to a guy that has a 460 ford motor for sale. He says he got it from a guy that bought it from ford as a rebuilt. He says it has svo valve covers, an aftermarket aluminum manifold, I believe he said an edelbrock, no carb and of course it is all painted etc. He was told by the previous owner that he purchased it for a project and that it was a 71 lincoln motor. My question is does Ford sell reman engines and if they do, does anyone know if they come with the svo valve covers and the aftermarket manifold. thanx. wnk.

Ford Racing does sell aftermarket 460's but they are a rip-off. This is only because they are expensive and not much more than fancy paint and shiny stuff on a huge motor. They do make a very respectable 302 and 347 that make a ton of power and are far more reasonable as far as price goes. Anyway you look at it a 460 is a gas hog and the 302 or 347 will beat it for a daily driver any day of the week, maybe not in power but in everything else.
