Transmission cooler lines...help please!

OK so I'm replacing the radiator on my 2005 F-150 5.4L. I took the old radiator out and drained the fluid. When I put the new radiator in (it's a spectra 1 7/16) the transmission cooler line fitting was smaller than the thread in the radiator. The difference is like 1.5 millimeters, but it still won't thread. Any suggestions? The new radiator came with fittings but I can't take the old ones from the cooler lines.

You'll have to use some different fittings in the cooler. There might be a reducer that will fit the cooler and lines. Your local parts store should be able to help.

TRANNY LINE FITTING LEAKING AT RADIATOR

I replaced the radiator in my '88 bronco, 351, auto with no problems but now there is a transmission leak at the fitting on the lower line on the radiator. I don't want it to ruin the lower radiator hose. I tightened both fittings but it still leaks a bit. I don't want to over torque the fittings for fear of stripping them. I don't have a torque wrench. Should I use plumber's tape? How can I stop the leak before the lower hose gets eaten. Thanks!
