You need a scan tool like AE, I myself have never ran one either.

I've never read a way to test it on here, if by chance you'd have a buddy with any year 7.3 powerstroke, 94.5-03, you could borrow theirs for a quick swap.

Ok. I took the IDM off. I noticed that it sounds like it's got water inside. I don't think it's suppose to sound that away.

That happens with these trucks some. Not a big suprise. Sounds like you're gonna need a new one. Get one from a 99-03 7.3 if you can, they are an upgrade to ours. 120V compared to 100. I bought a remanufactured off of ebay for a spare to have for 120 bucks.

I see an Ebay where there are several differnt part numbers. Does that matter? Or just as long as I get one for a 99-2003 regardless of the part number?

As long as its for a 7.3 powerstroke, you're good.

Same issues

Well I have had the same issues off and on for a while now. Replaced the ICP, IPR, Valve Cover harnesses, and still have the same intermittent issues. I did notice when it is dry out she runs better than ever, when it rains it's tough to start or run for that matter. I ordered a green OBDLinks II code reader but it doesn't read any codes and yes it is connected. Ordered another BAFX code reader will be in Thursday. The 13th of June will try that one out for codes. Will look for any IDM? Most on Ebay say they need the VIN number to properly load the software. Let me know thanks.

An IDM from any year 7.3 will work on our trucks. The one the NBS takes is a little higher voltage out put.
