well if thats where the valves that release pressure is then i think ill just leave the gas caps turned to the release position. im going to check my charcoal canister today to see if its plugged. might get lucky and find out thats the problem. a lot easier to replace, or clean out.
the original caps will vent simply by giving them a half turn to the left, you dont have to loosen them just turn them slightly left, there designed that way to release pressure before unscrewing them. anyway ill stick with that until i have to pull the bed for whatever reason.
well looking again i can see the valve on top of the tank. problem is now finding one. the one that it shows from checker and autozone are different. my truck was bought in canada if that makes a difference. but the valve in there is small with one hose going to it. the ones i find online looks big and has three hose connections.
hey SideWinder4.9l i looked again at the top of my front tank, easy with a flashlight now that its dark out. and the valve i see looks just like this one and looks pretty easy to change, but the auto parts stores are all showing a completely different style. this one is for a bronco. 1980-87 Bronco Gas Tank Breather Valve. well i cant install a attachment to show it. but it has one hose connection to it. the one that cheaker and autozone show two connections and completely different style. could it be that i have the older style bronco style ones in my truck. like i said its a canada bought truck so smog regulations are different. is there a way of testing them, figure it must be bad seeing that as soon as i released the pressure on my caps my truck started perfect and has been fine since. guess i could tighten my cap again and see if it starts hard again. but i think that was it.
I'd simply go to the Boneyard man....Thats what I did....And sorry no idea on how to check it...lol
As I said before, it's simply a 1 way valve....So maybe cleaning it good, and blowing through it to see if air will pass through it may work? Just a thought....
