Found a guy selling a new set of the recon led white, clear lens cab lights. He's set on $20. I know they are more from recon, so I didn't argue the price. My question is, does anyone have experience with these lights? Any problems with the white led? How do you guys think the clear ones would look on my truck? I don't know if they have a wiring harness of some sort with them? Any input would be great!
I have put the smoke w/ amber on my Ford and two Dodges.I did not have a wring harness for neither.I just removed the headliner and used good wire for a hot and a true ground.Tied the hot into the side marker wire so when the park or headlights are on they are on.I did not punch the larger holes.I just drilled three small ones for each light and used clear silicone to seal the holes.
I really think I would like the smoked with amber better, but it's really hard to pass on the deal. I am thinking just get them, and if I don't like the look of them sitting in place, I should be able to get my $ back.
I'm not sure the cab lights would look very good in white light at night. Also, I don't know whether there are any legal requirements for color on them.
I have the Recon clear lenses and use amber bulbs (not LEDs) inside them. They are just the lenses, not the entire assembly.
The lenses have held up well to UV, and have not yellowed much after at least five years.
They are a very-good duplication of the factory fit, and don't leak.
Thanks pop, I figure there might be an issue with the white led, but on the recon page they state they are approved. Worst case, I can buy amber bulbs. It's just that they are new for $20.00, heck, I can't even buy old faded originals from the salvage yard for that price. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out a way to make the clear lens into a smoke lens, but not coming up with anything.

. There is a company called vht that sells a spray on tint in a can like spray paint. It is made for tinting taillights and headlights so it should work on these cab light covers. Its called Nite Shades and u can find it online or sometimes at Autozone. I think its around $8 a can so it might be worth a shot.
Well, when I spoke on the phone it was the kit. When I saw them, it was the lenses only. Thanks for the input and it's back to the drawing board. I'll find a set cheap at some point.
