Could someone tell me what color the 292 was painted in a 1964 F100. Thanks

I think the old "Y" blocks were painted gold or red, but in the trucks they might have been paimted grey or black. My 65' had a 6 in it and it was painted grey, my buddys 61' F-600 has the 292 and it is red and grey. So I think it depends on the truck.

Somewhere under all that dirt and rust there will be a bit of the original paint, it is there you just gotta find it.

This one I know. It was gloss black block and air cleaner and accessories (water pump, generator) with blue valve covers. Believe me, the answer to this one was awfully elusive and I dug for HOURS before finding this one out and that was over about a 3 month time period. The blue used is Ford blue of the flavor used in throughout the 60's and it's the same used on the '67 Ford products, that I know. It's available in a rattle can in the correct color (I can't offhand think of the manufacturer, but they do make a variety of engine paints ...no, not VHT) ...be sure you do use the engine paint for both block and valve covers or you may well find yourself doing the job over. Anyway, you'll find the stuff at a decent auto finishers supply shop.
