two questions

iv been pretty busy and havent had time to be on the thread lately. but i had the flash done to the truck that was supposed to fix the harsh shifting. and it still shifts hard into 5th (only sometimes). doesnt matter if the trans temp is warm or cold, sometimes it does it n sometimes it doesnt, is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

also, i have 4600 miles on the truck and havent gotten the change oil light yet. is it a good idea or how many people have been changing the first initial oil change on the motor before the light comes on? im sure ill get a lot of opinions on this question but the tranny problem is really bothering me. like others on here im sure feel, if u spend nearly 60k on a truck, you dont wanna experience any problems in the first year, if at all.

I havent had tranny problems with my truck yet, but hopefully this shifting issue isnt like what I experienced with my '07 Expedition EL... I lost count of how many times I had it in for a re-flash. Damn thing would be fine for a while and then start being stupid again. Finally traded out of it with about 85k miles (and it never left me stranded anywhere).

As for the oil change thing -- I put a LOT of miles on vehicles for work -- and I have always changed oil on a new vehicle at around 1,000 miles. I (knock on wood) have never had an engine related failure, nor have I ever had a vehicle that I purchased new ever burn oil on me (and I've bought new every couple years <or more often> since 1990)... so while some will argue that a 1k change is a pointless waste of money (and they may be right), in my experience anyway, it doesnt seem to hurt anything and it makes me feel better. I'm typically at anywhere from around 85 to 125k when I trade out of a vehicle, with the most being around 190k.

I too have the shifting issues. The 4/5 upshift is always harsh. I have not had the flash done yet but will soon. From what others are reporting, the flash is correcting this issue.

As for the oil changes, I usually change the oil at 5k intervals unless I am using the vehicle in "severe" mode (i.e snowplowing).

Maurader - I can confirm the 4/5 harsh upshift is resolved with the flash. It also smoothed out the low throttle 1-2 and 2-3 shifts for me as well. You ought to go get that done.

It's on my "to do" list. Just held off a bit to make sure the techs got the process down pat. There were some posts about whether the full TSB flash caused other issues.
