Got a shake now.
Bought a 79 F150 with a 302 as a project. Motor had busted crank so found a 1980 rebuilt 302 car motor for it. All fit up and truck drives great but there is an imbalance just above idle that seems to go away, or just can't feel it, at higher revs. I did put in a new flex plate and wondering if I could have mis-indexed the flex plate to the torque converter to cause this imbalance.

may not be in your tranny. check the harmonic balancer on the front of the motor,(just behind the main pully) see if it is seperating, also check your carrier bearing on your drive shaft, if your model has one. Lastly I would check for a frozen u-joint. If it has set a while that can happen...I have seen all of those cause a shake-shimmy.....

Not all bad news
I appreciate the help from the froup. Took the truck to my favorite repair shop for diagnosis. Bottom line whoever did the rework on the block used a newer model crank. Motor is coming out again and correct crank will be acquired. Sure getting hot outside.
