97 f350 oil leaks...

replaced the oil pan a month or so ago... Kind of annoyed I didnt check around more carefully prior to putting the motor back in. The oil leak wasnt just from the rotted pan..Ive got oil dripping down from somewhere else in engine compartment. Oil pan doesnt show any oil around edges of it..checked that and seal is good.

Are there any common places on these motors that oil tends to leak?

Havent gotten to get in their and clean up the engine to check..just lookin for ideas where to start.
thanks fellas

The oil cooler is another place that frequently leaks. Here is a thread. Other than that, it could be leaking from up top somewhere, but these leaks tend to run down the back of the block and look like they are leaking out of the transmission inspection cover. Good Luck!

High pressure oil line orings, hpop-plug on the bottom of it, turbo pedestal orings, ebpv rod, that covers most places I think. These are up top leaks like Nate mentioned

Appreciate it guys. I know it isnt from the oil pan seal itself... Will take a look later after work to see if the oils drippin all the way from up top or that dagum oil cooler. because over by the oil cooler is got oil coming off of it too. Like i said just havent gotten to clean anything off to discern whats what.

Oil cooler is one of the biggest oil bullies on our trucks.
Its a good few hour job getting that sucker out and going.

I'd suggest working it with some simple green and the power washer first to get everything in the area cleaned up so your not dragging dirt when you install it back on.

There are galley bolts along the heads and the front and back from the machining.

They can leak when messed with.

The other possible leak point would be the dipstick tube area, but if you were getting a leak there it would be pretty obvious. You may have even addressed that when you had the pan off, I don't know.

I'm doing oil cooler here soon.

I'll be sure to take pictures if I remember. I'm usually too greasy to touch my camera some days.

Would appreciate some pics. Ive look at a few writeups, but the more the better since every truck is somewhat different. And then it will be drilled into my head. Off work finally. Got some friends comin over to clean er up n check it out. hopefully find it is the oil cooler and thats it and just order parts for a weekend project!
