There are "core" plugs, lets not refer to them as freeze plugs because that has nothing to do with the design, it was a way they could get the sand that cast the water passages into the block when iron was poured in the mold. Yes there are 2, one on each side of the block, possibly one in the center up high, if the fluid is on top of the block running down the bell housing it's the coolant line between the intake and block, a real fun repair in a van.
