I installed my 6637 filter last week and my exhaust 2 days ago, now I'm looking at getting a new tune, I don't have the money yet for a DP tuner, so I'm going to order an e-mail tune from 5***** tuning, I'm either going to get the 60 or 80 hp tune, anybody know what kind of power difference I'd be looking at with either of those tunes?
My opinion is don't waste your money, save it twords the DP-Tuner I know it's hard to wait but it's worth it! I'm not familiar with the email tune your looking at and that says something right there! Stick with what's proven to work and not tear up your truck! With DP you won't be sorry!
Your not too far from the DFW area. You should consider getting in touch with T Wildman (www.totaldieselperformance.com) when it is time for your custom chip. Two benefits are:
1. he can tweak your tunes to your ride on the spot.
2. chip reburns/tuning upgrades are free
Plenty of folks running T Wildman tunes on this and other sites. Also, check out the guys in the North Texas Powerstoke Assoc (www.ntxpsa.com). Great bunch of folks and tons of knowledge and experience. They have a Rally every year in Caddo Mills and a GTG about once a month.
Like Hotroddsl posted - don't waste your $. If they send you a tune/program over e-mail how do you plan to burn it on a chip or reprogram the PCM?
that's the tuner people with gasses use. Never heard of one on a diesel, make sure you confirm it will work in a diesel. Better yet save up for a DP and no worries.
I'm going to load the tune from my SCT x3 tuner, and was originally going to order it from 5*****, but since have checked my e-mail and one of the customer support representatives from DP tuner e-mailed me and stated that they would be able to do the same thing, and back to my original question, I'm going to go with the 80hp tune for now, and wanted to know, how much more power would my truck have over my current configuration, truck's in sig?
Well, you have the gauges so thats a big plus, you have the intake and exhaust so your good there, go for it. I had what you had when I got my DP tunes. One other thing guys like to get is a tranny mod, at the very least a modded acummilator VB. As for the 80Economy tune, your going to notice a big difference than stock, no doubt, like nite and day.

Even with the increase in power would i also notice an increase in fuel economy as long as i'm gentle on the skinny pedal?
that is the key here. Doubtful you will be able to contain yourself though with all of the new-found power from the 80 econo tune from DP. The Superchip MAX setting was supposed to be 120hp increase.......my 80 economy blows it away hands down. I ran the Superchip for a couple of years. It's now a paperweight until I need codes pulled

I'll try to be fairly conservative with my right foot, that is until there's some punk in a ricer that's just asking for a big cloud of black smoke.

X2 on this whole post, same here.

When you ready to order call James or Jody at DP and tell them you would like the shifting carracteristics in your tranny sharpened up, meaning crisper faster shifts, he can do that thru line pressure. Its not crispness or faster than a shift kit but he does work wonders pumping up your trans in a lack of a better term.

Just some more info, I see you low on coin so you'll still be ok but what most do is drop in a modified VB before the tunes, especially a BTS VB, DP needs to tune that VB with the chip. With a J.Wood VB you can drop it in anytime and it won't need a reburn, so, get that 80E from DP then when you save up money again get the JW VB, Copeatch.

Ok, I'm looking at the installation guide on clay's site and it looks pretty straight forward, are there any parts such as springs or check ***** in the valve body that can fall out, or would I not need to worry about that?
