Ok so my new truck (1974) came with headers. The whole truck vibrates when the engine is on. Is this from the headers or could it be the off road cam that also came with the truck. Its kinda fun having the cab shake but not if its a problem with the cam ya know. The carb also needs to be tuned so that I think accounts for part of it.

If a properly running cam\engine combo is shaking\vibrating the cab, it is a problem unless you have a high rpm street racer. This is not the norm for a an old heavy truck that is street driven. I've seen plug wires pulled and people think they have a "radical" cam installed I'd recommend a tune up and go from there.
Without seeing the engine, there are a few simple things to check that might cause your problem. I would first check engine mounts, then timeing, then body mounts. I have seen people forget to tighten things down all the time. Was the truck ever lifted? I have never seen an engine with headers and a cam cause a cab to vibrate to the extent that you are describing.
I think it just needs a tune up. When in park the engine goes from idle to almost shuting off and back to idle. I think thats part of the problem and the headers and exaust just add to the vibrations. Its more of a vibration than shaking. My 79 Bronco has a racing cam and it vibrates a little (very little) but not to the extent of this new truck. Ill try a tune up and check to see if any bolts are loose.
Figured it out! Its a combo of the carb being out of tune, the idle being set low (very low) due to the last owner thinking it sounded cool, and the off road cam. Everything seems to be fine now. Ill work on figuring out how to post pics for everyone.
