C4 reverse clutch (help!)
C4 reverse clutch (help!)
Working through the rebuild, following the Haynes book. Pull the retaining ring with no problem, out come the clutches. Next I compress the spring, pull that ring remove the spring. Pull out the piston, change the seal on the outer ring and the smaller seal on the center shaft.
Carefully make sure the piston is fully seated (3 separate times). Stick in the same number of clutches and steels and I am one clutch plate and one steel too big to put the retaining ring back in.
Here's the kicker, if I put the old clutches and steels, I have exactly the same problem. They are the same size within about 5 mils.
I know I've done something wrong, but dang if I know what it is. I've repeated the procedure 3 times, once with a sanity-checker looking over my shoulder.
Due you have a clue where I went wrong??
