when replacing a radiator on a 6.4 they take aprox 4.5-6 gallons. so adding 6 is about right. Its more probable that the damaged resulted over a period of time from a leaking radiator.
we have seen egr coolers fail as a result of this tyoe of issue as well.

Strange question while we are somewhat on topic, but after an EGR cooler failure, even if its just one, isnt it recommended to replace both?

On a 6.4...I'd change them both.
