Rear Quarter swap/replacement

Hey Guys, I'm looking at replacing the entire rear quarters on my 95 Bronco. I've read that some people have used rivets instead of the tack welds. Does anyone have any pictures of this? How do you guys think it'll hold up against rust and such? Thanks

I've also considered a flared fiberglass panel. I've seen the autofab and a glassworx version for our Broncos. Does anyone have any pics or experience with these (other then whats available at autofab.com)

I'm just not sure how well fiberglass would hold up bouncing around in the cold temps we get up in the mountains.

The Autofab quarters make some serious changes to body lines and size of the wheel openings. I've been buffo them for years to just make stock quarters but they won't even acknowledge that there could be a market for them. So, they don't get my business

I really like the autofab quarters, and would jump on them except I heard that they require a fabricated cage to mount their matching front fenders. I dont have access to a welder, so that makes me have to look into other options.

Yeah, they lack the kind of internal support that stock fenders have. I don't know if its critical to fab the full caged front superstructure however, mounting them some way other than the boys at Autofab has prescribed would require your own alternate fabrication.

I read somewhere you can remove the skin on the front fenders. And bolt the fiberglass fenders to the inner fenders instead of building a cage.

Wow. Thanks alot. That is a great link for many upgrades. Though it still seems that it'd require just as much if not more fabrication then the cage kit from autofab. Hopefully a local body shop can assemble the cage support for a reasonable price.

Autofab makes a more stock type front fender that doen't flare out, just has a larger wheel opening, not sure about the mounting of it though.

Fiberglass has been onmy mine since i now see rust coming up front behind in a few spots on mine.

fastfordfiberglass has great looking stock replacement front fenders and hood done in fiberglass not too bad on pricing.

FastFord Fiberglass - Parts

Sadly I think my truck would look weird with flared rears and stock front fenders

Why don't they make hoods for my 1990? Been dying to try and find a fiberglass hood for my 90. Really don't wanna give up and do a 92+ front clip swap. It's not fair, you 92+ers get all the cool stuff, hoods, headlights, grills. I have to totally destroy my Bronco's identity to get the cool toys.

and Edgethis, I dunno if you *need* the whole rear quarter panel, but I just bought the wheel arches from Broncograveyard for like $35 each. Been toying with the idea of replacing my quarter panels until I saw those dirt cheap patch panels, couldn't believe my eyes and wish i had done it a year ago. Gonna cut my arches off, cover the interior panel with the thickest, storngest, most expensive anti-rust paint in existance and have someone with skill (not me) weld these on.
I'll probably eventually go full quarter panels anyways when I can afford a big swap and full fiberglass all the way around, but for $35 to stop my wheel arch rust for now, that just can't be beat.

I'm just gonna patch mine up until I can afford to go all out.

Honestly, i'd rather find thicker gauge sheet metal than fiberglass. My Accord's sheet metal seems double the thickness. The full body reconditioning is somethign that's gotta take a lot of preplanning for me, like you're concerned with fiberglass, I have my concerns as well. I know the Bronco isn't a unibody but these panels have to add some kind of body support, our bodies are flexy and floppy enough as is with the thin stock sheet metal let alone fiberglass.

When you do start swapping parts please let us know how it goes.

I like the idea of the fiberglass quarters and fenders. My only concern is will they hold up, I don't want to be plagued with stress cracks. To me they just seem like throw away's, for the pre runner trucks, just a quick change out.
