Hello everyone. I just joined this website so i could get some help with my bronco. My main issue is that it has a weird stumbling feeling once it gets around 3rd gear. I dont think its the transmission though. My other issue is with the fuel gauge. All it marks is empty but with the ignition off it goes a little above the E. If anyone can answer these questions please do, i really appreciate the help!
Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. Have you run either diagnostic self-tests on the truck (KOEO or KOER)? KOER results could pinpoint the stumbling. Is it definitely a "third gear" issue or is it engine RPM-related?
As to the fuel gauge, the gauge is grounding out completely with the key on. That's why it comes back "up" a bit when the key is turned off. THis could be in the wiring but is more likely to be the sending unit in the tank.
It might be the plug in the back of your cluster. Mine did the same thing after taking my cluster out, I just pushed the plug back in and it fixed it. Probably not the problem, but it would be nice, eh?
definetely pull codes, if you need to know how just ask on here, it's easy with the 90s and freeee, no tools required. Also, if you have a 90 and haven't changed your MLPS, do it now.. there's a TSB on it and it will completely change your life, trust me.
