Hello,
I am new to this forum and have an 05 f250 lariat 4x4 with 140k. When i am on the freeway about 60 plus and get on my brakes hard my truck goes into a horrible death wobble. I mean bad I did not want to drive my truck for the longest time. the steering wheel moves back and forth and the truck it self feels like a giant picked the truck up and was shaking it back and forth. The only way to make it stop is slow down to around 35 mph. I have been reading a little bit about this problem but i would like a few more suggestions on what the problem can be. So anything will help me out.
thanks
matt
Could be anything from worn out front end parts, steering stabilizer, low tire pressure to a bent rim. Need more info about truck and maintenance that has been done. There's a bunch of info if you search.
Thanks I replaced the trac bar but just noticed that the two front tire weights are gone so I'm going to get my tires balanced and alignment. Hopefully it works Thanks
Yup. Start with a good front end INSPECTION and alignment check.
Some could say the "death wobble" is a good thing as it alerts you to a problem before it becomes a real risk....
You might want to check your rotors for warps since the death wobble happens when braking. It could be the center link that is bad since it is part of the tie rod end on the right side.
Yea I Che led my rotors and calipers yesterday and everything looked ok. I'm not sure if it is my center pink bar but the bar that goes straight across the front axle that connects to both hubs has some play in it idk if that can cause it to but gonna replace that to. Im getting an alignment and tires balanced today so hopefully that will help. Hopefully it does I'll Update after I get the alignment. Thanks.
You have to inspect the front end, not just look at it. As others have said, it's an indicator that there are worn parts somewhere, maybe even seized outer axle u-joints...you'll never know until you (or someone you pay) digs a little deeper.
