So last saturday my FFA group had our tractor pull and the 84 got put on water wagon duty it hauled many loads of water to our pulling track totalling 4000gals then the next day is hauled the tractor back home(tractor and trailer weigh 18,500) and for the next week it's hauling hay! This truck is working hard and I have no complaits about it! These old trucks kick A$$!
man that thing looks sharp.just like she rolled off the assembly line yesterday.
i tell ya what, them new super duty trucks don't sit so nice like that with their long leaf springs.they point to the sky. anyone who needs to work 'em like that today usually buys a set of air bags right off quick.
It does have air bags, that load and trailer weigh 16k, my sig pic didn't have the bags yet and i was putting about 3k on the truck.
Heres a good shot of it squatting with that big load. The front end doesn't point up on this truck because I put the hitch 6in in front of center on the rear axle
These trucks truly are amazing machines. Yesterday a buddy of mine and I took my 84 with the 20ft car trailer to pick up a dump bed for a dump truck he is building. The round trip was about 80 miles mostly interstate, the combined weight on the way home was around 5000 lbs... the ol girl didn't complain a bit. Some of the longer grades kept us at 55 mph otherwise we were rolling just a bit over 60 mph. We couldn't help but laugh a bit when were going up some of the grades she would start really pushin the black smoke... nobody ever wants to be behind me for some reason! I am hoping to be able to get the turbo installed yet this summer, hopefully money works out accordingly.
not sure what this weighed but it is a lot of 12' length logs.on a 91 factory f-250 setup my buddy with his 2000 powerchoke had a set of 6' logs with no sideboards so just to the bed rails and it squated twice as much, he bought air bags the next day

i just went and got a load of stone with mine yesterday, just a little load though, only about 2 ton.
i put 5000lbs of 3/4 crush in mine about a month ago and had to buy new overload springs because the never recovered. truck never knew it was there but the suspension took a beating

lol mine took it like a champ, blew a little smoke takeing off from a dead stop though
Well I delivered the load this morning and it was really a nice pulling load, we could run 65mph all day but with the wet roads I dropped to 60. My 2nd aux trans cooler really helped keep the ol' c6 unde control. I found out when I got there he didn't have the right equipment to unload it, so I ended up bucking most of it off myself.
Sometimes I wish my 84 was a manual instead of an auto, I personally like em better for towing. Country... I see you must be waiting to install a turbo as well? Can't wait to get my Sidewinder bolted on! Speaking of hauling some weight, a couple winters ago I had fourty 4x8 sheets of 1/2" sheet rock on the back of my 84 F250... it sat level. A guy in the brand new Chebby Duramush in front of me had half as much weight, but squatted his truck twice as much... I think he was a little embarrassed
John
lol yea damn the damn college keeps takeing all my money. i love manuals though, there are far less problems that way, especially if you tow. 40 sheets of 1/2 inch is right around 2200 pounds so thats about right to leval her out a little..lol
