Anyways the 351M, 400, 370, 429, and 460 all share the same tranny bellhousing pattern. So you are in luck. Also it is almost a perfect changeover. You only need to get the motor mounts when you get the motor. I would check a junkyard before paying full price for somebody's rebuild. You can do it yourself and or otherwise you will only save time. You should be able to get a complete engine for about $180. FoMoCo put 351M's in their bigger cars at the time but they also put 400's in them and they have more power and are probably a better bet than a 351m but its your choice and my 351 gets me around just fine, and it even spins the wheels just fine. In a junkyard you will see a lot of motors so don't only look at one. First you should check the fluids in the motor and they should look normal, if not then leave it. You should also be able to turn the motor with a rachet. If not then its probably seized or has a broken rod or cam or something other than old age. If you find a good one, when you get home make sure you pull the oil pan and check the main bearings and stuff in the bottom of the motor. Good luck on your swap.
