Help with carburetor...
I had my carb rebuilt... and yet my poor truck still does the same thing..
The choke doesnt work right, and when I do get it started, it'll run fine until the truck gets heated up, then won't run with a dang....
There is a float in the carbruetor fuel bowl, and it regulates the level of fuel just like in a toilet tank. However, in a carburetor, the float shuts off fuel flow by rising on one end, and pushing a needle down on the other end - acting like a lever. The needle pushes down into a seat which shuts off flow. If there is varnish or debris in the seat (which is the case for an old, dirty carburetor), the needle can't properly seat. This lets fuel flow into the bowl even though the float is trying to shut it off - just like in a toilet, if the chain is too short and the flapper stays pulled open.
The broken hot air tube is actually one piece - one end connects to the choke, the other to the fresh-air intake. It's coiled inside the exhaust crossover. The assembly should be bolted to the intake with a small bracket. I've seen this available as a replacement kit; you can also make your own by flaring brake line.
