Nice to see it's on the way to 100%. You still need to make sure you know the total mech. adv. Say you have 12° initial and 36 total. That means you have a 24° stop bushing in. If you start bumping up the initial to get the idle better, eventually you're going to get to a point where it will ping when fully advanced. So you have to change the stop bushing accordingly. 18° initial would get the 18° stop bushing and so on. Then you play with springs to set the curve as you know.

Calm down. He told me to get an overall timing check with a timing light with built in tach. Half the stuff he explained was over my head. Just getting a grasp of it.

I dont really know that much but I'm getting there.
This guy really does know his stuff. He told me I might have to limit my total by putting a tack weld on the end of the weight so it cant advance so far but to document the timing on rpm increase to suit.
I see that the stock springs were one light and one heavy style. I put a Trans dapt lighter spring kit in it for both but should I had both of them stiffer heavy springs? and where do i get a set?

I went up 2 more jet sizes again and it only hit a hesitation once on a good drive but otherwise it drove pretty much like last test run. I may jet down one size but only after I change the cloyes timing gear to the advanced keyway for more bottom end range power.

I'm already happy with what I got but need to see what I could be missing..

Well not to start another pissing match here ! But A National Championship and National rewcoeds ? Hmmmm... I still keep intouch with quite a few of the guys that raced fords and for Team Ford and the 40 something year old sons today...Altho it meant so much to me I never new what your name is or was ? But i never heard any of them Mention Bear was National Champ that year ? they have run consistantly from the early 60 to the present in one form or class or another..

I'am just wondering where this might be documented at ? Love to do some reading on it ! Maybe the Demmitts and the Bonner's might know you ? Or Carlos from Buck Wheat racing..oh hell there's a bunch of them I still email with.. To many to type in here...But I'am sure they'd love to hear from another National Champion ! and Drag baots..of course you must know Lem Evans...Aww the list goes on.. I think all the guys would love to see and hear the Storied from a Big Time National Champion ! I hear from some..But would like to add you to the list..

That's because the Bear nickname came from when I switched over to racing boats.

Raced mostly in the mid-west, mainly in Wichita, Kansas in the early 70's also in Oklahoma and Texas. I found the car racing was getting crazy expensive so I found another outlet that turned out to be just as expensive but I ended up with some sponsorship because I did so well. FYI, My tow vehicles were always FE powered.
