Question Leaf Spring U-Bolt?

I recently lowered my truck and I had to add 6 deg pinion angle shim. Now when I reassembled the threaded end of the u-bolt only ends up flush with the top of the nuts. Is this enough thread?

Could I used a crush nut or something?

I know you are not supposed to reuse them after they have been torqued, but I will be disassembling again at a future date and don't want to spend 50 bucks just to throw it away and do it again soon.

I do like to have a least one thread exposed, but the U-bolts are usually grade 8 and see no problem reusing them. The nuts I would replace if self locking or Nylock nuts. Of course if your specs say do not reuse, thats your decision.

Use red threadlocker... Loctite 271.

Personally, I like to have the exposed threads equal the height of the nut threaded on it.

I agree with HIO silver I like the threads to be out the top some if you don't want to get new u bolts then use some loctite so they don't rattle off for now

FAA regulations require 1 full thread exposed, used to be 3, I'm about 5 miles from you

You must be an A&P.
My son is in the process of converting his military to civilian. He is an Apache mechanic/crew chief.
Thanks
