tough start when hot
hello, I've got a 99 f250 5.4 triton superduty that all of a sudden wont start when its hot it will start ok in the morning, sometimes it will die and i have to restart it , and it will run rough at first but then it evens out and it drives good, but if i stop at the store for 5 minutes it will crank for ever before it starts, giving it gas speeds up starting a little i think. So i went out and bought a fuel pressure gauge and checked while it was cranking for ever and it reads the same as ussual about 40 psi, I pulled one the plugs and checked for spark and its getting spark. So that must mean the injectors arent opening right of way, or is 40psi not enough? This truck has always had idling problems but the mechanics blamed the exhaust leak i had at the manifolds where some had broken the studs off, then the dealer i bought it from put epoxy in to stop it temporarily(scumbags) So i put new headers and muffler on last month and it helped a lot with the idle, but it still starts and runs rough at first, also changed the idle speed control valve. with no luck, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
