engine surging, engine dies no power or throttle response
i have an oil leak somewhere and i have some oil in my valley. my brother robsf250 told me that the oil leak could be leading to my clutch slipping because the clutch is only 20k old. is that possible?
back to the oil leak my brother told me to to clean the engine i was being stupid and did not cover anything up except the air filter i used engine bright engine cleaner and tried my best to not get any cleaner on any electrical parts and then washed all of it off with the garden hose as my brother told me to. when i went out about 30 min after i turned the key over and big click but the engine did not turn over waited a couple of minutes and tried again and the same thing happened. i then got the air hose out and blew engine bay off with air. turned the key and it fired right up i went to go pick up my gf and it ran a little weird but did not have a major issue. aftter it set for about 45 min i went outside and tried to start her up and it struggled to start once it started it idled very low and had no throttle response. i shut it off and then started her back up it struggled but not as bad and once started it had almost like a lopy idle and it was still very low i was going to limp the truck home and got about home and the truck died it just tunred over a good 6-8 times and i let off the key. i then tried to start the truck again and she started just fine but then had a very high idle at almost at 1300 RPMs and it blew a lot of smoke (black smoke) and the throttle response was great so i limped her home and right before i got to the drive way i lost all throttle response and it started idling low again.
If anyone on here can help me with all of my problems ii would be the most thankful 17 year old in this world. thanks in advance for the help
I'd start by replacing the pigtail for the ICP sensor and see what problems that clears up. As you've discovered, that little rubber boot is important. Also, let us know how the truck runs this afternoon once it's had 24 hours to dry. You have to be careful with water and chemicals under the hood.
