My plastic runningboard broke off when I stepped it the other day in the heat. I am heavy but far from the heavyest guy to ever climb in one of these trucks. Its an 04 and has the round boards. I found a website
Ford F-250 Running Board that at one time made the boards and the weight rating is incredible, however they dont make them for ford anymore. The board that broke was a replacement from Nov 09 and may be from another company. Then there is the issue of the new design for my new truck, I dont want this happening again. I have a bad hip and dont like the the chrome ones. Does anyone know the weight rating of the new boards. Any help would be appreciated

Mine are rated for 500 lbs and I love them. They are made of aircraft aluminum and boxed. The only problem I had was they were sent with only 2 brackets and they would flex slightly when I stepped on them, I am a little over 300 lbs. I emailed the seller and he had the manufacturer send more brackets, now no flex and they are great. Aircraft aluminum lasts forever. PM me and I will give you the info.

How about replacing it with the same factory running board and having a fab shop add a bracket under the running board that goes back to the frame to reinforce the board. Wouldn't be too hard to do for someone with the know-how and a welder.
