Anyone with a V10 want to give me some advice as to where to spend my $$$ Next?
If I'd change anything at all I would have rather had the 7.3l Turbo Diesel, But just so happened I got such a good deal on this truck I couldn't pass it up. It was Everything I wanted Other than the PS Diesel. Now I would really like it if someone could help me with what upgrades to do on my truck...
I just purchased a 2000 F250 XLT SD CrewCab LongBed V10 with a 19in Lift & 40in Swampers on 20in Mazzi Hulks and Donahoe Racing Shocks all around. This thing was a One Owner Truck Never Taken Off Road and Never in an Accident with only 40k Miles. A Southern California Street Queen that I was lucky enough to pick up for $13.5k
I would really like some discussion and advice on where to spend my Money Next.
I am thinking about the $2000 Banks Exhaust System with Headers and Ottomind Chip (This system claims +56 HP & +67 Torque with 7% improved Fuel Economy).
I am also thinking about installing a Second Battery BOTH OPTIMA's with some sort of Isolator and High Output Alternator (To Help with my Sound System running 3 Very High Output Audison Amps)...
I am also thinking about some Drilled & Slotted Rotors with upgraded Yellow Stuff Brake Pads. I have seen Big Brake Kits for around $3k to $4k but don't think that is anywhere Near Worth It. Have been told that some Drilled & Slotted Rotors to help run Cooler and some Yellow Stuff Brake Pads will Greatly Improve Braking for only a few Hundred Bucks...
Because of how Tall my truck is, It is going to cost me about $2500 for the STEPS that I want to get... I want the Amp Research Power Steps, but due to the Height of my truck I am going to Require the One UP OffRoad SecondStep they offer for about $1200, the amp research step mounts to it and allows it another 6 or 7 inches drop from stock mounting location. Anyone with any cheaper options than this that are still not some Gaudy Obtrusive Steps that Hang all the way down and are ugly...
I did just find a Dual Shock Steering Stabalizer Kit (Donahoe Racing) even though they are out of business and rebranded as ICON Now... I found this kit Brand New in the Box (To Match the Donahoe Racing Shocks already on my truck) for only $200. I am Yet to install it but will have it on soon...
Also what is the Best Intake to install? If I end up getting the Banks Exhaust it comes with one already... But is there any Exhaust that is Just as good as the Banks for Cheaper Price???
Thanks again for your input, If my post is better in a different category please let me know as well...

Florence, Az
Welcome to FTE! Gears and a tune from 5 Star Tuning would be the next thing I would spend money on. I wouldn't bother with Banks Ottomind but their headers/y-pipe are nice. Regearing will definitely make a good performance impact since you are running 40" tires. I would look at doing at least 4.88 or 5.13.
I got the 5 star tuner for mine and haven't regretted it for a second. I also got the SPD y-pipe with the tuner. The truck had glass packs on in when I got it, and they sounded good. I put the new y-pipe on and then it sounded real good. If it's still got stock gearing, I'd definitely get new gears. I've got 3.73's in mine, but I wish I had 4.10 or 4.30's. With those bigger tires, you might consider going to 5.somethings.
Not sure of the police in Florence but when I lived in Gilbert, the cops harrassed me constantly about not having mud flaps (req'd by AZ law on lifted truck) on my 2000 SD. If you end up needing some, superduty headquarters took care of me out there, hooked me up with a set of removeable mud flaps. Nice lookin truck!
Lot of things you are talking about, but what strike me is some myths you are considering.
Optima batteries are disadvantage in truck used every day. They also die faster, while $50 batteries at Costco have 100 months warranty.
Than factory alternators are 160 amp rated, what equals to about 2000W . You are saying that is inadequate for your stereo. What exactly you are planning to use the truck for?
I have had bad experiences with Optima batteries as well, and the fact that their warranty period is far inferior to any other major brand battery, I would stay away from them. If you want a sealed battery, go for the Sears DieHard Platinum.
You could do a dual-alternator setup like on some diesels. - MAYBE??
Intake won't do much for you.
$2K for an exhaust is ridiculous. Get something custom made for way less.
Get some high quality drilled/slotted rotors and some good pads.
You COULD spend $2500 on steps, but I wouldn't.
You need to lower the mounting position of the front bumper by about an inch or you won't be able to change your signal bulbs.
Well.... I still suspect that the thread is a joke.
Who would buy $ 6000 vehicle, put $ 9000 in it to make it $ 7000 vehicle?
And your point is contributing what to this thread? Why post in a thread you think is "a joke"? What proof you have the vehicle is worth $6000? Please take your biased to the V10 vs PSD thread and contribute something constructive to this one.
