I was in my shop today trying to put together but it seems like the e-brake cables i have that go from the rear drums are too short. My truck is a 4 speed and id like to get the e-brake working just in case even though i could leave it in gear. Im guessing this is so because when i bought the truck it had a 4 or 6 inch lift, not really sure which cause i havent looked into it too hard but the previous owner thought it was 6. I know many of you have lifts and im guessing still have your e-brake working so my question is how did you solve this? I was thinking maybe trying long bed e brake cables since mine is a short bed...
Yep,, 6" of lift can make alot of things short,,, not sure on the longbed,, but I would try that out,,, I think the pivot point is the same cab to frame,, and the cables are just different length to the wheels,,, Let us know!
I'm pretty sure the two rear brake cables (from the frame to the drums) are the same with LWB and SWB trucks. If I'm right, the difference is in the front cable(s).
Left rear (drivers side) about 66" total length, a bit over 46" with the protective sheathing?
Right rear (passengers side) about 58" total length, a bit under 42" with protective sheathing?
If this is the case, it wouldn't be too hard to fab up some drop brackets for the e-brake cables. :-)
