tranny temp

I finally got the TFT to work on my scangauge, it usually runs within a couple degrees of 150* empty at highway speeds, is this normal?

I think so. I've never seen mine above 165 but I haven't towed since getting my SG. Most of the time it's at 155.

After about 15 miles of driving my temp will be in between 150-160 deg.

i havnt seen higher than 155ish. thats about where it stays at. empty. i have onnly towed once sence i got the SCT TSX and i didnt look at the trans temp.

Mine stays 150 to 155 empty , last week 10,000 pounds roofing hot day 162

Yup--that's pretty much normal. Even on really hot days mine doesn't get over 180 or so, and that's with in town stop and go driving.

This is the trans temp readings from this afternoon with outside temps running close to 100 deg. F. trans was 165 coolant was 195 and oil was 203 this was on average at 65 MPH. Truck was empty.

Driving to the Sierras in Aug. the temps going across the desert are usually high 90's to around 105. After the desert part we have a 12 mile grade of 7%. I'm pulling a 31 ft. 5er and don't recall a tft over approx. 175. The tranny, IMHO, is something that Ford nailed the 1st time around. The nemisis of the torque shift is improper tuning and a lack of maintenance. I am running 100% stock except for coolant and P.S. filters.
