ignition problem or something else?

Hey there, I've got a 1979 ford f150 with a 400. I recently went on a long trail ride through the hills and my positive battery cable welded itself to my header and direct shorted. My battery is now shot, the positive cable end saudered itself together etc. Since then i have fixed all the wiring/problems and wanted to fire it up to see if that was all that gone wrong. I used the 2 year old battery from my explorer and it fired right up. I have an MSD blaster 2 ignition. Only problem............My truck is much quiter now......I have no idea why. Any ideas? :/

Yes, and with the hood up the truck sounds quiter in general. Almost like a v6. :/

It's been my experience the better a engine runs, the quieter it is. You may have inadvertently fixed a problem you had before when fixing the battery cable and the battery. If I am right, you should feel the difference in power also.
