D60 Crush Washer ?
Do all D60's use a crush washer? We removed the pinion from the rear of a 78' that we are replacing all the bearings in and did not find a crush washer present, just 3 shims. I cannot tell if the PO ever went into the diff in it's lifetime as the bearings were pretty warn, but I thought they all needed one to preload the bearings? The kit I got from BG for the rebuild actually had two of them in it. I suppose the second one was just in case I screwed up the first one.

Nope not all D60's use a crush sleeve. I just discovered this the same way you did only on my front. Apparently older 60's dont use them because of the arrangement of the shims so dont use it if it didnt have it.
