Boost ?
A buddy of mine has a '96 with stage 1's and a programed PCM. Programmer is unknown. The truck constantly throws a boost code and today he finally got a boost gauge hooked up. Wide open around 3000 rpm's he gets 18 lbs. Kinda low isn't it? it is a manual. He did tell me a good while back he started it with a red rag in the intake and the compressor wheel is damaged on the ends of the fins. Seems like it would, but can I try my '01 wheel on it? He just wants to see if it gets better. He says there is tons of black smoke under any acceleration and like said it is constantly throwing a code.

I'll get the code from him. He posted this problem sometime back and it may be related, when he gets to 2200-2400 rpm's his truck bucks a little, throws the cel, then smooths out. Lots of black smoke all the time. He also tried running the truck with the map sensor unplugged it runs a lil slower but doesn't buck anymore, but still heavy smoke.
