That tapered nut. What the heck.Heated it up into dark before the rains came.Back out to day,to put more heat and try to get it off.dave any suggestions?
Are you talking about the kingpin itself? The tapered steel cone on the top of axle when all disasembled?
That kingpin I found out was torqued to 600 ft lbs from the factory.
What type of heat are you putting into it and where. Oxy Acetelene torch is best and you want to heat the base around kingpin on diff not kingpin itself. Heat it fast, hot so the heat doesn't transfer too much to kingpin , expanding both of them.
What are you using for the top Allen key head? Do you have a massive 7/8 Allen key with a pipe? I bent mine then realized if I took off one of my 2" long lugnuts cut the flared end off, then popped it into the top and put a socket to it then with a 10' pipe it worked better
Yes we are.Im using acetalene torch, big 7/8.My axle is out from under the truck.I find myself moving the whole axle, trying to untorc the tapered king pin with my pipe exten. Ya that one thanks for the replydave
kingpin removal on the D60 is a real b*tch of a job, you'll need to secure the axle or it will just keep moving on you... Pirate4x4.Com - Extreme Four Wheel Drive
