canister purge solenoid valve failure code.

canister purge solenoid valve failure code.
I am getting this code, no matter what tank I'm no, telling me it's more than likely NOT the gas caps, due to rising fuel prices, and numerous people in my area being hit by freeloaders (people siphoning out gas) I will be buying 2 locking gas caps (keyed alike).
Could this part, which while being so simplistic, is yet, rather pricey ($120 at autozone and $62 at advanced) be a cause for alarm? we have no inspections here in Wyoming, nor in Wisconsin where I plan to move to here in the future, and could it be a cause for bad fuel mileage?
Thank you in advance.

After reading your other post I take it you are talking about a 1995 F-150 5.0L and a 4R70W transmission.
For the canister purge solenoid valve failure code check your wiring at the canister purge solenoid valve and make sure that it is even there. I do not think that truck ever had an E4OD unless you put it in.
I would go with the $62 at advanced gas caps and no I do not think they are the cause of the canister purge solenoid valve failure code.
The bad gas mileage I take it was before you replaced the vacuum lines and if you did not have vacuum on the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) your fuel pressure would have been too high to the Injectors and would give you the bad gas mileage. Make sure you have vacuum on the FPR now and recheck the MPG.

I cleared them all seeing as I replaced a number of the vac lines, and will be checking the codes again sometime this week, to see which ones are back, the CEL light hasn't come on, but they may have been soft codes.

Make sure you clear your old codes before driving the truck and checking for the codes it gets now.
To clear codes ground the STI wire, turn on the key and when the MIL starts to flash remove the ground from the STI wire.
Never unhook the battery to clear codes, only unhook the battery if you replace a sensor but not for replacing an actuator.
You said about KOER and KOEO codes but you did not say if you had any CM codes.
We would also like to know what codes you do get after clearing the codes and driving. Please post if they are KOEO, CM or KOER code numbers.

Guys!
I have a 95 Ext. Cab 5.0. I'm having problems with the Engine. The codes state slow EGRflow, then I have a canister purge valve circuit code.
I changed the plugs, spark plug wires, the distributed and rotor finger, cleaned out the intake and cleaned the mass air flow, what else do I need to do?
Desperate!

Nothing you changed has anything to do with your codes.

You need to post the codes you got and what group they were in as, KOEO, CM or KOER.
I would check the wiring to the canister purge solenoid however.
