I have another question. When I fill up the gas tank in warmer weather(above freezing), the cab fill with gas fumes if I don't turn the heater/ac switch to off. The fumes dissipate after a few minutes and don't come back until the next fill up. Any ideas?
It would appear that you have a tank vent problem but if you do the check engine light should come on indicating that.
You might be able to take a light and a mirror and check the top of the gas tank for signs of a leak. You would probably see a stain. If I was checking into this at work I'd look at the canister vent hoses from the tank to the engine, probably in particular behind the L/F wheel where the hoses connects to the pipe there. If that looked ok I'd hook up the smoke machine and see where smoke comes out. Seeing that a smoke machine isn't something that most people have laying around, you might want to take your truck to the dealer and get it checked that way.
Maybe someone else will have some more ideas
The engine is off with doors and windows shut. If I leave the heater control anywhere but off, the cab fills with fumes. I can air it out, park it with everything shut and the heater control where ever and its fine. The fumes only come in when filling the tank and once gone, don't come back until the next fill up.
