Sounds like a short to ground somewhere. I would start by checking out the wiring going to your lights and plug.

Do you have a electric brake controller hooked up in your truck?

Yes that would be correct. IIRC the wire harness that gos to the tail lights runs down the drivers side of the frame and there is a plug back there near the tail lights under the truck. find this plug and unplug it that will isolate the tail lights. some one correct me if I'm wrong.

Make sure your light housings don't have rain water trapped inside.. this will cause a short.

You're correct. I've pulled my bed a couple of times for various projects. There will be a big plug between the spare tire and the bumper. Three plugs actually, if you have the tow package and a dually with fender lights. If the OP disconnects the tail lights and the fuse doesn't blow, he'll have isolated the problem.

Heres another stupid question, If my brake lights still work, wouldnt that mean the problem is not located in the tail light section? Just a guess?

No, they are separate circuits.

Do you have wiring diagrams, and do you know how to follow them? These are for your 2000. See below.

There are no stupid questions here at FTE.

Well............... mostly.

OK now it's time to trace the harness back to the engine compartment for any places that look like they might have rubbed through.

I isolated the problem by pure stroke of luck. Its in my clearance lights some where. After market pieces of junk.
