brake controller plug in

I was wondering if the plug under the dash is the same on a 2006 f150 as on a 2011 f150 where the brake controller plugs in ????

Doing a quick aftermarket harness search, the same part number from controller to truck works on 1994 to 2011 so it should be the same.

I wonder how the harness that I looked up was supposed to work on all years if they are different. I don't remember what brand it was, it was supposed to be a direct plug-in from the controller, to the truck and it said it fit all of those years. Oh well, can't believe everything you find on the internet. What a shocker

I know what you mean I was told they were the same but after searching found out different but the guy I ordered from said it would fit for sure and sent a link to it with a picture to show the difference.

A guy I know with a 2011 needed to borrow a brake controller so I gave him the one that I had in the 2000 Expedition to use. He said that the plugs were not the same.

What adapter plug? The pigtail that came with the 2000 Expedition which is an almost square gray plug does not fit the 2011 trucks.

I just purchased a 2010 model 'new' and asked for the brake controller as well as other stuff. Is this just plug and play, or do I need to get the computer 'flashed'? It is a Ford OEM brake controller.

It's a "plug" (just pull out the cubbyhole under the transfer case switch) and install the controller with 2 screws, but it's NOT a "play" After you get it installed, you have to go to a Ford dealer for them to "activate the controller" Actually, they flash the computer and tell it that there's a brake controller attached. Then the controller will show up in the dash display between the speedometer and tach.
