Any Ideas???

I'm new to desiels, owned this 2002 F250 SD almost a year, it has about 15000 miles on it. I had a problem the other day that as yet the dealer has not found. Maybe one of you can shed some light on it.

At times, usually at low speeds or at idle, the "check engine" light will come on and the engine will not accellerate if the pedal is depressed. The engine remains at idle speed. After the light goes out, normal operation resumes. The vehicle has been at the dealer for 2 days with no results.

Luckily I have not been towing my 30' trailer when this happens.

Any Ideas???

Sounds like maybe the pedal is shot.
It was news to me, but the accelerator pedal is fly-by-wire. That is to say there is no physical linkage between the pedal and the motor. When you step on the go pedal your moving a sensor that sends a signal to the computer that tells the motor what to do. Basically.

Anyway, I've seen a few posts here with folks going through two and three pedals. And if I remember, it was mostly on the 02's.

I'd do a search here and see if you can't find anything. I'm surprised the computer is not storing a code if the check engine light comes on.

Good luck,
-Shawn
