plenum interchange

Does anyone know if a 5.8 upper intake, plenum, will fit a 5.0? My dad's old truck, an 86 with a 5.0 is really dirty inside the plenum part. I have a new 5.8 one for a 96 model that came off a crate engine and I put a carb intake on it instead at the time. Figured some one might have tried it.
Thanks.

there is an adapter plate but honestly you would be better off just soaking the current 5.0 upper. the 5.8 is a restrictive intake and wouldnt help that motor at all.

Agreed.. this is generally a big waste of time even if the 5.8 upper does bolt on.. though I don't think it will seal even if it does, neither of these intakes are anywhere close to being restrictive on that vintage 5.0 truck motor.

Thanks, I think that I will try some seafoam through it and see if that helps. It really needs to be driven. It hasn't been moved much since my dad died in 2004 and when he did drive it. He didn't go above 30mph. most of the time. I did body work to it, painted it, and put in a rebuilt motor back in 2000 so its still a nice truck. Thanks again.

get some carb cleaner/brake clean. that stuff will get the soot out really well and is cheaper then seafoam.

To clean the FI intakes I have taped off the openings and then added some liquid paint remover and then sealed the opening I used to add the remover. Roll it around and then let it sit for about 10 minutes then roll it around again. Keep this up for an hour or so and then flush it out with plenty of water then some soap & water until the water comes out clean. It may not get 100% of the crud but it will get most of it. Diesel fuel or kerosene will work as well, do not use gasoline as it is to flamable.

Cleaning

I second Jim's suggestion. After all, that product is usually called "Paint and Varnish Remover"
