rear end noise...
my wife always complains about my rearend noise...but that unfortunately is not the situation today...my 2002 ranger edge 2wd is suffering... from a stop when i turn left i am getting a clunking noise along with a binding feeling in the driveline... almost feels like the gears are not meshing properly...only on a left turn... the drivers rear axle has a bit of end play... not a lot ...1/4 to 1/2 inch...i am going to pop off the cover i just need to know what to look for... never been into one of these... thanks guys...

Give us some more information about your truck, such as engine, transmission, open or limited slip differential and whether your axle has a 7.5" or 8.8" ring gear. Some of the axle info is on a tag held on by one of the differential bolts.
