also you can't use the average mpg one to get your calculation if u reset it while moving, cause if you are coasting it might start with 35 or even 99 and slowly work its way down.

right way is, before you start the truck for the trip, reset trip b and/or the green bar instant/average screen. drive your route and then write down the result. anyother way means nothing.
I have the 3:15 rear ratio in my truck and just yesterday I averaged 24 mpg on a 180 mile round trip of combined interstate and regular road travel.

At a steady 55mph, I bet it would get 25 or more mpg!

Ok, I am looking for a little bit of advice guys. I currently own a 2002 f350 xlt crew cab long box, 7.3, 4x4 with a 6" pro comp lift and 35" goodyears w/sweet rims, cloth interior, navigation/in dash dvd player, door pillar gauges, exhaust brake, ATS tranny, 3 stage chip with about 117,000 miles. AWESOME TRUCK! clean and straight as you will fine, I love it, but got a buddy who is trying to talk me into getting a 2011 crew cab max tow ecoboost fx4 made with a 6.5' bed. AM I CRAZY for even listening to him?? (All I pull is my 8,000 lb when loaded race car trailer) I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!

If you're a die hard diesel and superduty guy you may not be happy with a lighter gas truck. BUT, the EB truck properly equipped will handle your trailer and more any day of the week.

An F-150 Screw 4x4 157" wheelbase with max tow and the EB engine has a max tow rating of 11,200 lbs. Go drive one and you'll be the judge.

Just to add to this......

I just drove an F-150 with the 6.2 and one with the EB. All I can say is I'm truly impressed. The 6.2 is a very strong engine and has that V8 rumble I love. I drove the EB after getting out of the 6.2 and with the exception of some very minor lag, it was every bit as impressive as the 6.2, if not a little more.

My current truck is a 6.0 which has been virtually problem free. If I was looking to go to an F-150, I'd have to choose the EB. The truck I drove had the 3.31 gears and it was a screamer. I can only imagine it with the 3.73s.

That said, I also drove a 250 with the new 6.7 and was amazed at the level of refinement in the new Super Duty. I still haven't convinced myself to go back to an F-150, but I can say that it's a tougher decision now than before I did some test driving yesterday.

You made a great choice Tim and congrats on the new truck!

My boss just bought a 2011 f350 crew cab long box with the 6.7 in it and man its nice also. Its my delivery truck and ive been pulling trailers with it full of building materials and ive been getting between 15-16 mpg. (thats with me taking it easy on it too)

I hooked my race car trailer fully loaded just like i was going to the races onto a max tow EB w/373s in it and i was suprised. I figured that it would SQUAT and lag horribly. My friend is a car dealer and i straight up told him, NO WAY is this going to work. Yep I was wrong, i set the cruise and took it through some hills and it handled it just fine. Rode nice and on the big hills it kicked down one gear and only wrapped about 2000 rpm.

Now I am yet to see how long this truck will last working it all the time. I am a weekend warrior and pull every weekend in the summer. My one ton is fine but that EB truck is sweeeet! I have to talk to the dealer again tomorrow and see. . .

After seeing this post about the ECO BOOST I went to drive one today. It was a 2011 150 lariat crew. That thing would haul butt!! That thing was awesome! I think I may add one to my fleet. Will it tow heavy trailers well as well??? That thing was amazing. I wish I could test drive towing a heavy load to see how it does.

That silver color with black leather interior. Supposed to have it Septemberish i guess! Nervous but excited all at once. This is my first ever bran spanking new truck and i cant wait!

I'm a new ecoboost owner and new to the forum..just picked up my XLT SCrew last friday and I LOVE it!..I had a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 6.7L cummins that was fully deleted and had a H&S minimaxx programmer. The Dodge was a great truck and had good power but it was lacking in the mpg department...was not getting the higher mpgs I was expecting after deleting and adding the programmer(I think alot of guys on the diesel board really do exagerate alot, but thats just guys being guys..no harm no foul right)
anyways..I wasnt really needing a diesel truck as Im not towing anything all that heavy anymore..mostly just smaller 4 wheeler trailers and such...and the cost of diesel fuel is just getting stupid!..so after reading and hearing about the new ecoboost I decided to go test drive one for the hell of it...had no intentions at the time of getting rid of my dodge...but after the test drive I was completely sold!!..it is a screamer for a v6!!...stock to stock..it would whoop my dodges butt!...that and the ride was WAYYY smoother..it rides like a dream!...and the huge back seat was a huge bonus!

So after talking with 2 diff dealers I traded my dodge in for a clean swap as I had 46k on my dodge already so that killed the value a bit on the dodge but thats alright cause I'm more than happy with my new EB...Im getting way better gas mileage than my dodge..took a trip to Colorado this past weekend and with a head wind(no idea what mph the wind was but a pretty decent steady wind) and cruise control set on 80-82 I was able to get 19.8 hand calculated..on most flat to gentle rolling hills headed west on route 70 from kansas towards Denver...to me thats great gas mileage for the speed and head wind!..my dodge at those speeds and wind would only get around 15!!

this week I filled back up and have been driving on local roads around the 65-55mph speed range with limited stop and go and have gotten 22mpg...and its Kansas..so its always windy here!...Im very pleased so far and have zero complaints on the new ride at all

The ford also rides way better on rough dirt roads than my dodge did..I know a huge reason is because its a half ton vs. a 3/4 ton but still its a night and day difference..it tracks straight through washboard roads and big bumps where my dodge would shake and rattle in the washboard and the back end would go side to side and on big bumps it would jar you pretty good...I'm a hunting guide as a profession so my trucks spend 75% of their lives on rough dirt roads or off road completely...so this smoother ride is a HUGE bonus for me!!..wont have to listen to grumpy, non-morning person clients complain about the rough roads at 4am in the morning any more! haha
