The accumulator happens to also be a drier. there are 2 pipes going to your evaporator, the coil that cools, a small pipe and a large pipe. The large pipe is the low pressure pipe and freon comes out of the evaporator coil thru this pipe, to the accumulator and then from the accumulator to the compressor. It is the cold pipe. The accumulator looks like an aluminum cylinder.It might be encased by some black plastic which is a holder/protector. If there really is a leak at the accumulator,it is more then likely one of the 2 connections which can be fixed by replacing the o-ring. The system still has to be evacuated and refilled after this is done.
