Okay, while at work yesterday (I have lots of time to think and come up with ideas) but I was wondering if there are any aftermarket DIGITAL Gauge clusters made for our trucks? I think it would be awesome to have a complete digital cluster along with oil pressure, voltage, water temp, fuel, and maybe a tach.
Any thoughts? anyone know if there is even one made?
Hmm..I've been thinking about that Edgethis. I was looking at the stock cluster and it (mine is) divided up into 3 sections..I could probably make something or take individual clusters and put them together like how the stock cluster looks. I don't know, still looking around. Well post on what I find.
hey just read dakota digital's FAQ and they said if you send them your gauge cluster they will custom build a set of Gauges for you. Don't know if this helps but it is something you can look into. here is what it says.
I don't see a kit for my vehicle? Can I still have Dakota Digital gauges?
Most vehicles that we don't have a kit for can be handled by our custom shop. For most customs you will need to send in your original bezel and gauge housing so that we can remove the factory gauges and custom build our digital gauges into your bezel and housing. The bezel should be sent in "ready to install" condition so if it needs to be repainted, chromed etc. be sure to do it before you send it to Dakota Digital. For more information call Dakota Digital's custom shop at (800)593-4160.
Currently we do not offer custom built system for the VHX Series gauges.
Try Summit for a universal gauge cluster. What i did was take a flat piece of 3/8 aluminum, formed it to the necessary shape to fit, drilled the Appox. 2 1/16 holes so that the gauges slipped in snugly. Was able to get three gauges in a horizontal line, the two signal bulbs at each side of aluminum, and a couple of other small indicator lites.
That seems like a great idea Country! I'll definitely have to look into that. I'll call em sometime tomorrow and will look for some JW gauges to send in.
xxshine, your set up seems pretty neat, mind throwing up a couple of pictures?
Try to get that done tomorrow ( Tue. ) Put in all digital gauges. Have Accumeter fuel level gauge and tach and Dakota Digital speedo gauge in the middle of the two. Keep in mind that there's some wires that have to stay connected behind the stock panel. The rest, you can wire up fairly easily. I hooked them, and the other three ( oil - water - volts ) to a 5 Amp stand alone circuit. Ran 2 separate ground wires to the 6 gauges on a 5 Amp. circuit. Be careful of the fuel level gauge, it measures % of fuel, and was tricky to figure out the correct gauge for the sending unit in the tank. Any questions : taleenamersaid@yahoo.com/
Contact Frederic on here....He has did the Aerostar cluster swap.....They are factory digital...and just need a little bit of repinning, etc......
He's done a couple different clusters into his truck. It looks good. He has a website that shows how to do it and has lots of pictures. You might try looking at his past threads and get the link from there.
you need to upload your pics to a third party site such as photobucket. then get the code that is between the IMG codes. the IMG normally has [] around it but if i put them here it won't show up. once you upload pics you'll see the code i'm talking about. just cut and paste it in here. if you can't figure it out, email me the pics at josh.stuart83@yahoo.com and i'll upload 'em to my photobucket account and host 'em here for ya.
