2 year blues
Hi everybody! 2years ago, my '88 bronco II began to misfire when I'd climb a routine mountain (from 5k to 7k feet). Black smoke (seen in the side mirror) and power loss unless you'd stomp your foot into the gas pedal (fuel inj) then power would procede and no black smoke. ON level or downhill, no problems. Has never been any codes in computer memory. I replaced distributor & cap (twice including module & pickup coil) , ignition coil & coil wire, O2 sensor, spark plugs, IAS solenoid, air filter, can't recall offhand what else. The last 3 months the problem is getting worse, especially while cruising at slower speeds or stopped at an idle (irratic idling, black smoke) . Here's the clincher. About 45 days ago, the following condition began. at an idle, the rpms fluctuate evenly from 700 to 900, down to 700, up to 900 rythmically. Yet this problamatic condition still exists. The truck has never left me stranded, can u believe it? I"m laughin on the outside, cryin on the inside. Would really appreciate some help or just visit me at the psch ward!!! LOL
