Removing leafs from rear

Finally found some lower shock brackets so I can finally change out the rear end to the 9 in. My rear leaf springs are two stage, six in the main pack with 3 overload leafs. I am thinking about removing the 3 overload leafs. How low will this lower the rear? I do not want it to go too low right now since I have not done anything with the front yet. Can anyone tell me what u-joint I will need to attach the drive shaft to the 9 in?

Pappy the u-joint depending on the year of the 9inch should be the same as the dana44. Also, might i suggest to keep the leaf pack intact and just raise your front hanger bracket to the top of the frame rail( you'll have to re-drill bolt holes)...that will give you about a 1 3/4 to 2 inch lower ride...remember your new leafs with settle after a while

Removing the overload springs won't affect the ride height at all. Like their name alludes to, they only come into play when a heavier than normal load is placed in back.
