Put a digital fuel level gauge at instrument panel. It doesn't have any circuitry to dampen the slosh effect of the fuel, when tank is near empty. The stock needle gauge, had a little P.C. board with some semiconductors on it, and that setup took away the slosh effect of the float going up and down when going around corners Etc. The stock sending unit provides around 16 ohms when near empty, and around 150 ohms when near full. What kind of semiconductor can i put at the digital gauge to dampen the slosh effect of the fuel in the tank ?
You might want to try putting a capacitor on your fuel level wire. Start with around 500 microfarad, 24 volt. Put the negative side of the cap. to ground and the positive to the wire going to your gauge. The cap. should slow down the gauges movement. Always use 24 volt or larger. If 500 doesn't do it, try a larger one.
You might be onto something rla2005. Autometer suggested starting with a 4700 microfarod, but it just sent the readout to zero. You're correct about the two ends of capacitor thing. Thanks !
