So, went to order a new truck yesterday. I am told that 2011's can only be order for a few more days/weeks, then in a few weeks all new orders will be 2012's. Anyone ever hear of this?
In addition, current rebates on the 2011 is about $2500, the new 2012's may not have rebates or very little.
So, do I order a 2011 now, and take the rebates, or wait a few weeks and order a 2012 and risk no rebates? Advices?
Curious also if the 2012 will have any changes to it.
I am not sure if there are any changes slated for the '12 model. If thry are going to be the same, I would jump on the '11 and take the rebates. Maybe even see if you can find one on the lot and get even more off when the '12s start rolling in.
Orders are tentatively scheduled to be accepted for 2011 production until 8/19/11...final production scheduled for 10/21/11 at Dearborn...and...11/4/11 at Kansas City. Order bank for 2012 officially opens on 8/15/11...Job 1 scheduled for 10/24/11 at Dearborn and 11/5/11 at Kansas City.
One factor to consider is resale value. If you keep a truck till the wheels fall off, the year won't matter so much, but if you sell the truck within, say, 5 years, the resale price on the one year newer model will be somewhat higher and would recover some of the additional cost up front of the 2012 model.
I bought my '02 E150 in March of 2003 as a leftover and got a stellar deal. I still have it with no plans to sell for a while; once vehicles get to be 8-10 years old, condition matters far more than a single model year.
